11/05: Car Rack for the Fit
Everyone around the internet has been asking about car racks that fit the Fit. I have a 1995 Ford Excort Station Wagon that had a gutterless Yakima Rack system on it. I decided that this rack would work perfectly for our new Fit Sport. I did some preliminary measurements and adjusted the front towers first. I will give full measurements, for reference, in later paragraphs.
After these first preliminary measurements I proceeded to adjust the towers on the front bar. Then I used a couple of towels to protect the car for this first fit attempt. To my great surprise my first attempt was sucessful...

Yakima Rack on Fit Using the Q-Towers
I was so excited I had my fiancee come out to get her approval. She helped me take it off and put it back on later. She also helped place the rear bar.
The rear bar had a different measurement than the front a little narrower. So here are the measurements.
Front: 42.25 inches
Rear: 39.25 inches
The front and rear bars are separated by 27.5 inches.
The front is placed about 6.25 inches from the windshield/edge of paint at windshield.

Finished Product
I cut out my own pads for the Spoiler. They are made from padding used in a DLO ipod car dock that was left over from a kit I purchased many years ago and my inability to throw things away finally made it useful.
Overall the rack is very stable and could hold anything you want. I would not load it heavier than about 100 pounds. That is what the manual told me to stay under for use with my old escort wagon.

I need to get some tennis balls on there to prevent hitting of head.

Capless front tower.
It appears in this picture that I may have left marks on the body of the fit. This was just a smudge and was removed easily. It was a byproduct of my laziness.

Rear Tower
Stunning simply stunning. I love the way this car looks in the sunset.

Sunset on my Fit
I like the extra rack look on the car adds a bit of flare other rackless Fits cannot compete with.

View from the fly's perspective.
The spoiler looks cool. I like the style that it adds.

Front View of Car Rack
The rack is mostly level with a bit of a tilt to the front. But nothing out of level by more than a half inch.
